Jessica and Steve

Well, it rained during Jessica and Steve’s ceremony but we had a great indoor option at the venue so we made the call early and created a wonderful, intimate space for them inside.  We kept everyone out of the weather and made it a great day for them!  They were so excited to be married and were so sweet together; truly two people who were made just for each other.

For their unity ceremony, they did a tree planting ceremony with dirt from their parents’ homes and they will have a wonderful reminder at their home when they return from their amazing honeymoon to the UK!  Can’t wait to the see those pics!

Events by Sherri provided the rustic centerpieces of wood circles with mason jars and baby’s breath (provided by the bride) and rounded out with elements of her color of cobalt blue and silver mercury glass.  Her bridesmaids put the finishing touches out and about the venue.

The guests had a great time dancing the night away but at 9 p.m., the music abruptly switched to Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” . . .. “it’s 9 o’clock on a Saturday.”  Great job by the DJ and a perfect day all the way around for the happy couple!

Katie and Mike

A truly lovely weekend for Katie and Mike’s wedding!  A friend of theirs officiated which made it so very personal to all their family and friends.  Two flower girls who carried wands that matched their dresses and a very handsome little ringbearer who carried a Welsh Corgi pillow with “fake” rings (and anyone who knows us or who has had us for their special day, knows that putting the REAL rings on that pillow just about causes me to faint) just added the final touch to their ceremony.  Their personal touch was on every aspect of their day.  From friends who provided live music for everyone to dance the night away to the mother of the bride making all the centerpieces using family heirloom crystal, it was truly “their” day.

And after raining most of the week, the forecast was for only a 20% chance of rain showers and storms on their “day of.”  While it is generally considered good luck if it rains on your wedding day, for an outdoor wedding, it can cause “Plan B” to have to be put into action and sometimes, very quickly.  So after a brief shower, we wiped the chairs down and went ahead with plans to do it outside.  The sun came out and it was just perfect for the ceremony!  More showers were forecast for later in the day and the most amazing thing happened!  While Katie and her father were dancing to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” the skies opened up, the sun was shining and it just poured.  And a rainbow appeared in the skies over the German Club Manor.  Still gives me chills just thinking about it.  How special that was for them!  A truly beautiful day for Katie and Mike!

Joanna and Andrew

I met Joanna and Andrew a while back when working with her dad on another wedding setup at the Taubman Museum of Art.  I immediately loved both of them and thought they were just the perfect couple, loads of fun and obviously very much in love with each other.  So I was beyond thrilled when I was asked to work with them on their wedding.

Amid whites, blushes and pinks for their colors with a good deal of sparkly, Mark Frye of Creative Occasions in Vinton, floral designer extraordinaire, AND Father of the Bride, created a perfect setting for their wedding.  And how cool was it that Joanna really had no idea what all he had planned for them until she walked in and saw it for the first time after everything was set!
From ombre’ florals coming down the gorgeous stairs at the TMA to a five-layer cake on a cake table covered with flowers, to a different look on almost each table, it was exquisite.  Yet comfortable.  A blend of vintage elements along with a soft, elegant look that welcomed each and every guest with open arms.

The look on Andrew’s face when he saw Joanna coming down the aisle toward him was one of pure love and joy.  And the look on Joanna’s face when she saw Andrew was exactly the same.
An amazing ceremony and a “helluva party” at the reception with some of the best in the business!
