Lauren & Jarus

Lauren and Jarus were married on his family farm and can we say “AMAZING!”  The scenery was spectacular; a 360-degree view of the beautiful mountains of Virginia!
We literally watched it raining along the mountain ridge behind the house but we managed to dodge the storms and have the outdoor ceremony that Lauren wanted.  Such a sweet ceremony surrounded by family and friends in the backyard of the house!
Lauren’s vision was evident in all the special touches she and Jarus provided for their special day.  Jarus designed and made the guest table centerpieces from wood on the property.  Lauren made personalized mason jars for all the guests that served as their table assignments as well as their drinking glasses for the evening.  There was a dessert bar with various yummy selections and food in abundance for the guests to enjoy!
A superb band provided music for the reception and they kept the guests on the dance floor the entire evening! The evening ended with a sparkler exit and saw the bride and groom off to the after-party elsewhere on the property and then their first night as husband and wife in their very own “treehouse” made completely with wood from the property!  Truly special touches from start to finish for Jarus and Lauren’s very special wedding day!

German Club 125th Anniversary

WOW!  Three events for the German Club’s 125th Anniversary in one weekend!  We were honored to be asked to help coordinate these events for the German Club.  All the events during the weekend were to commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the German Club as well as the formal announcement of the “Foundation for the Future Campaign.”

In 2016, the German Club Alumni Foundation embarked on a five-year $2 Million endowment campaign. Formally announced at the 125th anniversary celebration, the campaign is halfway to its goal. To find out more about the campaign and how you can support the campaign's goal of supporting the German Club in providing strong leaders, successful Virginia Tech graduates and outstanding young men, visit their website at http://www.vtgc.net/foundationforthefuture

Friday night saw over 300 people at the Moss Performing Arts Center for a welcoming reception to those coming in from of-of-town.  Highlights of the evening included a P. Buckley Moss commissioned print of the German Club Manor unveiled with Pat Moss in attendance, great food, drinks and animated conversation as Members started catching up with others they hadn’t seen in years!  On Saturday, over 250 Members and guests were treated to a luncheon at the Manor with presentations and awards following.  The weekend events culminated in dinner and dancing at The Inn at Virginia Tech for over 750 Members and their guests.   Featuring a superb band, great food and drinks, and a LOT more catching up with old friends and making new ones, the weekend was deemed a great success by all involved!

Thanks to those involved in making the weekend all that it was:

The German Club is the oldest non-greek fraternal organization at Virginia Tech. It was founded in 1892 to provide a social outlet for the student body. The name was derived from the German Waltz, a popular dance when the club was founded.

The motto of the German Club, Leadership for Service through Fellowship, describes the focus of the club. One of the club’s primary goals is service to the University and local communities. Members of the club dedicate thousands of man-hours annually for service projects such as holiday parties for under-privileged children, Special Olympics, the Christmas Store, and campus and community clean-ups. Devotion to Virginia Tech and leadership development become natural consequences of German Club membership. Our members are active in leadership positions in academic societies, the Corps of Cadets, the student body and government, residence halls, and many other aspects of student life. Founded as a social organization, the German Club continues to promote fellowship with socials with sororities, club parties, and the traditional Midwinter’s Dance.

Imagine, Create, Achieve

What is a perfect event?  A perfect wedding?  A perfect corporate event?  What would your answer be if asked?

My answer would be one where all the planning is done by a professional and those involved are able to just be there at the appointed time, enjoy the event and not worry about a single thing……. And enjoy it with the complete knowledge that all details will be executed flawlessly.
That is our goal at Events by Sherri.  A perfect event for you that you can actually enjoy!  Because it can’t be “perfect” if you don’t “enjoy” it!

When rebranding, I wanted to really capture what we at Events by Sherri do for our clients.  Sooooo, one morning at 3 a.m. (which is when I come up with some of our coolest ideas) while in Charlotte with my son, daughter-in-law and the grandbabies, it came to me.  The perfect new brand and I think our new logo says it all . . . . . .
“If you can Imagine it, we can Create it and Together we will Achieve it!”  Think about how amazing that is for you! Whether it’s your perfect wedding day, a corporate reception or a party “just because.”  Or maybe a fundraiser or a Festival.  We work WITH you to help you achieve your perfect event.  We help you “evolve” your event into what you envision it to be. And if you don’t know exactly what you want, then it’s our job to help you bring your vision from inside your head and heart to the reality of seeing it unfold.

Our job at Events by Sherri is to help you Imagine it if you need help with that OR to take what you have Imagined and then we Create it together (or we can take care of all that for you).  Achieving it is then just a matter of pulling all the pieces together so that your event comes off without a hitch and is exactly as you Imagined it.  Full circle for your “perfect” event.

So give us a call and “If you can Imagine it, we can Create it and Together we will Achieve it!”

Yamini and Robert

A cold but clear and sunny weekend dawned for Yamini and Robert!  From the moment we met with them, their commitment to each other and their respective families was evident.
Yamini and her mother were very patient in walking us through the different traditions they wanted to incorporate into the weekend to honor her Hindu heritage.  And equally, we incorporated Western culture throughout for a perfect blending of the cultures of both families.
From the Mehendi henna Ceremony on Friday to the blessings received by Yamini at the Haldi Ceremony Saturday morning, the families and friends of Yamini and Robert came together to bless this couple in many different ways!
We had a bit of an “uh oh” on Friday morning found over via text from their minister that her flight leaving NYC had been cancelled due to weather conditions there and that she and her husband were hopping in their car and driving all day to try to arrive in time for the rehearsal.  It’s 8 – 9 hours driving straight through!  So within about 10 minutes, we had Plan B all worked out and had communicated it to everyone so all were on the same page.  And as it turned out, Rev. Laurie Sue and Victor’s commitment to their couples was evident as they drove straight through, in almost blinding snowstorms for about 125 miles on the NJ/PA turnpike (and if you have EVER traveled either of those roads, you KNOW what they went through even without the snow) and made it to the rehearsal arriving only 10 minutes after we had started running through the logistics.
The ceremony was a wonderful blend of Hindu and Western cultures with traditional vows mixed with the Seven Hindu Vows and the Lighting of the Sacred Fire.
The reception was a party from start to finish with guests on the dance floor the entire evening.  Amazing food, cake and cupcakes for guests to enjoy, great dance tunes and lots of atmosphere, along with a couple that were so much in love with each other that they just glowed made for a great weekend from start to finish.  Yamini told us that it was “the best day of her life” which is exactly what we do our best to accomplish for our couples and their families.

Enjoy a few pictures EBS was able to capture over the weekend, but keep an eye out for the amazing images Jeff Hofmann captured!
