Yamini and Robert

A cold but clear and sunny weekend dawned for Yamini and Robert!  From the moment we met with them, their commitment to each other and their respective families was evident.
Yamini and her mother were very patient in walking us through the different traditions they wanted to incorporate into the weekend to honor her Hindu heritage.  And equally, we incorporated Western culture throughout for a perfect blending of the cultures of both families.
From the Mehendi henna Ceremony on Friday to the blessings received by Yamini at the Haldi Ceremony Saturday morning, the families and friends of Yamini and Robert came together to bless this couple in many different ways!
We had a bit of an “uh oh” on Friday morning found over via text from their minister that her flight leaving NYC had been cancelled due to weather conditions there and that she and her husband were hopping in their car and driving all day to try to arrive in time for the rehearsal.  It’s 8 – 9 hours driving straight through!  So within about 10 minutes, we had Plan B all worked out and had communicated it to everyone so all were on the same page.  And as it turned out, Rev. Laurie Sue and Victor’s commitment to their couples was evident as they drove straight through, in almost blinding snowstorms for about 125 miles on the NJ/PA turnpike (and if you have EVER traveled either of those roads, you KNOW what they went through even without the snow) and made it to the rehearsal arriving only 10 minutes after we had started running through the logistics.
The ceremony was a wonderful blend of Hindu and Western cultures with traditional vows mixed with the Seven Hindu Vows and the Lighting of the Sacred Fire.
The reception was a party from start to finish with guests on the dance floor the entire evening.  Amazing food, cake and cupcakes for guests to enjoy, great dance tunes and lots of atmosphere, along with a couple that were so much in love with each other that they just glowed made for a great weekend from start to finish.  Yamini told us that it was “the best day of her life” which is exactly what we do our best to accomplish for our couples and their families.

Kimmie and Jake

What a perfect day Saturday for a wedding; course all our “wedding days” are perfect for our couples!  And we just love seeing how each couple we work with makes their wedding day “their” wedding day.  And this one was certainly no exception.

Kimmie is Filipino so they incorporated some Filipino customs throughout the day such as the “cord and veil” ceremony during their Mass.  A special square veil is pinned to the bride’s hair and then draped over the groom’s shoulder and represents everything and everyone who will protect them, their home and their families.  The cord is a long rosary in the shape of a figure 8 that goes over the veil and around the wedding couple’s shoulders and is a symbol of their intimate union and a sign of their bond to each other, and their inseparable unity.

Kimmie surprised Jake with golf carts to take the wedding party out and about VT’s campus for pictures after the ceremony and then on to the reception location.  And we managed to pull off that surprise against some pretty amazing odds but we covered it all beautifully and a LOT of people were involved in that one to keep that surprise from him until the last minute!  And it worked!

Then on to the cocktail hour and reception where everyone had a blast and danced the night away!  Including one said wedding planner here and yep, I admit it!  In addition, stations of amazing food, florals, cake, photo booth, yard games, and décor all combined to create the perfect evening for the happy couple!

Georgianna and Matt

It was a perfect wedding weekend!  Course we think all our wedding weekends are perfect!

I started working with Georgianna and Matt over a year ago to plan their perfect day and as I’ve said before, it’s a little sad for us when we send couples down the aisle because we know that we may not have the opportunity to see them again.  Everyone comes into your life for a reason and sometimes just for a season!  Such is life. . . .

Her mother planned and executed the centerpieces as well as many of the items out and about at their reception. Georgianna put her personal touch on many things as well.  Events by Sherri pulled from their inventory along with the MOB’s touch for the altar and pews at War Memorial Chapel.  And Matt’s family had a wonderful rehearsal dinner with just the right touch to kick off the celebratory weekend.   So everyone worked together to create their weekend for them.

Dakota, Georgianna’s horse, who is her pride and joy, was featured in pics displayed during the reception.  Top off the evening with a great DJ and great food and a good time was had by all.  A sparkler exit sent them on their way as the new Drs. Matt and Georgianna Schroeder!
