Kimberly and Ryan

I (Kaitlyn!) am really excited to share this blog post with you! (It's a little later than normal, but we wanted to respect that pictures were part of Christmas presents for parents and grandparents!)
My brother Ryan married the love of his life, Kimberly, on October 7 on a family owned field in Floyd, VA. They knew from the very beginning that they wanted to get married outside so this was the perfect spot! The mountain view was absolutely breathtaking. (Especially the sunrise that the wedding party got to enjoy while we were setting up)!

Ryan and Kimberly shared an intimate first look that began with a sweet prayer before they turned to see each other. After the first look they walked together to hop on the back of a John Deere tractor to be driven up to the ceremony site, which was beautifully adorned for the wedding I might add! While the exchanging of the rings is always a special moment, this exchanging of the rings was extra special because the FOG (my dad!) handcrafted Ryan's ring made of stainless steel with African Paduk wood inlay! During the ceremony the couple chose to include a very special foot-washing ceremony which was a great visual representation of their commitment, humility and love for one another (and there wasn't a dry eye in site!). They shared their first kiss as husband and wife and were announced for the first time as Mr. & Mrs. Davidson! (Talk about a proud sister moment!)

Family and friends gathered for a light reception that included a candy buffet and Carol Lee donuts, which are always a huge hit. The newlyweds were able to share a first dance and bite of a donut before the skies opened up for a little bit, but that certainly didn’t stop the fun.

A large group picture and romantic lavender toss exit was the perfect ending to their special day!

So many family and friends came together to make Kimberly and Ryan’s day a success. A huge THANK YOU to all who lent a hand. You were a blessing and we couldn’t have done it without you.

**Also another big shout out to the wedding party who was willing to start setup so early!

Jennifer & Chad

Chad and Jennifer opted for a small, intimate gathering of primarily family members for their special wedding celebration.

Dodging rain again for outdoor pics, their celebration was held at their church (fortunately inside so the rain didn’t really matter at that point), a throw-back to the way things used to be done when I got married.  Jennifer was involved in every aspect of the planning and implementation of their special day.  She provided us with detailed drawings of how she wanted everything set up and they were SO good, we asked if she “hired out!”  Contrary to some opinions out there that indicate that we, as planners, want to “take over” or “do things only our way” that is far from the truth.  We love it when our clients can verbalize their vision of how they want everything done.  Now, of course, we will tell you if there is anything we think you are making a huge mistake about but it’s your day from start to finish. After all, you are hiring us for our experience to keep from making mistakes that may end up being costly to you.
Jennifer and Chad made the antique doors that served as the backdrop for their ceremony and had 1 Corinthians 13 made into signs that we placed down the aisle.  The doors were moved to the reception area as a backdrop for pictures.  We mixed some of our décor rentals in with theirs to create Jennifer’s vision.  Top the afternoon off with amazing food, donuts for dessert and sun at the end of the day and it was just perfect!

Elizabeth & David

We certainly are on a "dodge the rain" streak with weddings this summer!

Elizabeth and David’s outdoor wedding at Hahn Horticulture Gardens could not have been more perfect! The sun was out and a lovely breeze was around all day!
It was clear from the moment I met with them just how in love these two were! Their wedding weekend was also a huge testament to the love that surrounds them through family and friends.

They wrote their own vows which was a beautiful moment shared between the couple and they had a close friend perform the ceremony which made it extra special for Elizabeth and David. They shared some really sweet sentiments, exchanged rings, were pronounced Mr. & Mrs. Garber and then the party started! And what a fun time it was! The cake was cut (see awesome topper down below!), and heartfelt toasts were given by the sisters of the bride and the brother of the groom . . . words full of memories and the kind that brings tears to your eyes and a smile to your lips. Truly beautiful moments throughout the entire day that will be cherished for a lifetime by all who attended. After dinner, the band kept everyone on the dance floor the rest of the night! And what would a Blacksburg wedding for Hokies be without a surprise visit from the HokieBird himself!!

They had an awesome group of vendors to help create their special day and what a blessing it was to be a part of helping it all come off without a hitch! Wishing you all the absolute best in your marriage!

Courtney & Sean

Gotta tell you that when I first met Courtney and Sean and they took me to their ceremony site location, I thought to myself “have mercy!”  I love a blank slate when it comes to event design but this place took blank slate to a whole different level. But Courtney knew what she wanted and she had a vision of what it would look like!
There was a fire pit right smack where the parents would be sitting; there was a “pole” that became the bane of Courtney’s existence and various other “challenges” with the space.  But by golly, we put our heads together and “worked over, around and upside down” all the challenges and it was one of the most beautiful outdoor weddings we have done!  And her color scheme blended just perfectly with the outdoor setting!
Courtney and Sean’s touches were apparent throughout their special day with her mom adding her special touches. This woman is a planner’s dream mom as she went completely above and beyond to ensure that everything was just perfect for her daughter.  She even deadheaded rose bushes around the reception venue!  And her dad, well, there isn’t anything the man can’t accomplish as he came with a trailer full of supplies, mulch, plants, barrels, and anything and everything else you can possibly imagine to transform the spaces! And then there were Sean’s parents, who hosted a wonderful rehearsal dinner and then just pitched right in and worked right along with everyone else!  Courtney’s Aunt Patsy made the wedding cakes and they were truly amazing!  I can truly say that this wedding was a “team” effort from beginning to end!
A final special shout out to Dr. Courtney for helping us through having to make the decision to end our Schnauzer’s suffering by encouraging us and helping us understand what was going on with him by providing additional information over and above what our wonderful vets had given us!

Kim & Wes

Kim and Wes (and Mya) tied the knot and became a family of three in a beautifully simple, yet elegant outdoor ceremony! Kim’s daughter was involved in every aspect of this wedding as they truly became a family of three!
Kim’s touches were woven throughout the ceremony and reception with her mom and grandmother providing their very special touches as well!  Grandmother provided all the centerpiece floral arrangement as well as the arrangements out and about the venue for the ceremony and reception.  Her mother provided most of the rest of the décor which included special family mementos! And his mother took care of all the details for a very relaxed and perfect rehearsal dinner for family and friends.
We dodged rain yet again for the ceremony and while it sprinkled just a bit, the rain held off for us!  Mya served as the junior bridesmaid, flower girl and her mom’s maid of honor.  The sweet unity sand ceremony included Mya as an integral part of their new family unit.  And it was a special treat for EBS to get to work with an “old” friend (old meaning I have known her for a long time; our kids went to school together for many years) serving as the minister.
The first dances included a first dance with Wes and Mya and pretty sure there weren’t many dry eyes in the room for that sweet and very special dance.  You know the saying “anyone can be a father but it takes a very special man to be a daddy” and Wes is certainly that special man for Mya!
