Kimberly and Ryan

I (Kaitlyn!) am really excited to share this blog post with you! (It's a little later than normal, but we wanted to respect that pictures were part of Christmas presents for parents and grandparents!)
My brother Ryan married the love of his life, Kimberly, on October 7 on a family owned field in Floyd, VA. They knew from the very beginning that they wanted to get married outside so this was the perfect spot! The mountain view was absolutely breathtaking. (Especially the sunrise that the wedding party got to enjoy while we were setting up)!

Ryan and Kimberly shared an intimate first look that began with a sweet prayer before they turned to see each other. After the first look they walked together to hop on the back of a John Deere tractor to be driven up to the ceremony site, which was beautifully adorned for the wedding I might add! While the exchanging of the rings is always a special moment, this exchanging of the rings was extra special because the FOG (my dad!) handcrafted Ryan's ring made of stainless steel with African Paduk wood inlay! During the ceremony the couple chose to include a very special foot-washing ceremony which was a great visual representation of their commitment, humility and love for one another (and there wasn't a dry eye in site!). They shared their first kiss as husband and wife and were announced for the first time as Mr. & Mrs. Davidson! (Talk about a proud sister moment!)

Family and friends gathered for a light reception that included a candy buffet and Carol Lee donuts, which are always a huge hit. The newlyweds were able to share a first dance and bite of a donut before the skies opened up for a little bit, but that certainly didn’t stop the fun.

A large group picture and romantic lavender toss exit was the perfect ending to their special day!

So many family and friends came together to make Kimberly and Ryan’s day a success. A huge THANK YOU to all who lent a hand. You were a blessing and we couldn’t have done it without you.

I simply could not have done it without them.  Jennifer Davidson (we aren't related but practically sisters) and Alejandro Colemenero who came all the way from Mexico to be with us to celebrate and help make the day come off without a hitch!

**Also another big shout out to the wedding party who was willing to start setup so early!

Katie and Mark

From the “Save the Dates” that resembled VT football tickets to colors of maroon and orange, this was a true “Hokie” wedding from start to finish.
Katie wrote a personal note to Coach Beamer detailing their love of “all things Hokie” and how Hokie football had been such a large part of their life while at VT and invited him to the rehearsal dinner.  Coach Beamer and his wife graciously accepted, came to the rehearsal dinner and need I say, were the highlight of the evening!
On to the wedding day.  Katie had her heart set on a wedding at the Pylons at War Memorial and rainy weather threatened us all day long.  About an hour before the wedding was to have started, the skies opened up and it just absolutely poured!  We brought everyone inside and the decision was made to try to wait it out.  The rain finally let up, we quickly moved everyone up to the Pylons and Katie was able to have her outdoor wedding overlooking the Drillfield!  And the sun even came out right as the ceremony began.
Everyone then proceeded to party the rest of the evening away as they literally stayed on the dance floor until the last dance song was played.  A true sign of a good time that was had by all!

Jennifer & Chad

Chad and Jennifer opted for a small, intimate gathering of primarily family members for their special wedding celebration.

Dodging rain again for outdoor pics, their celebration was held at their church (fortunately inside so the rain didn’t really matter at that point), a throw-back to the way things used to be done when I got married.  Jennifer was involved in every aspect of the planning and implementation of their special day.  She provided us with detailed drawings of how she wanted everything set up and they were SO good, we asked if she “hired out!”  Contrary to some opinions out there that indicate that we, as planners, want to “take over” or “do things only our way” that is far from the truth.  We love it when our clients can verbalize their vision of how they want everything done.  Now, of course, we will tell you if there is anything we think you are making a huge mistake about but it’s your day from start to finish. After all, you are hiring us for our experience to keep from making mistakes that may end up being costly to you.
Jennifer and Chad made the antique doors that served as the backdrop for their ceremony and had 1 Corinthians 13 made into signs that we placed down the aisle.  The doors were moved to the reception area as a backdrop for pictures.  We mixed some of our décor rentals in with theirs to create Jennifer’s vision.  Top the afternoon off with amazing food, donuts for dessert and sun at the end of the day and it was just perfect!
